LACTALIS RANCH follows world-leading animal welfare practices.
LACTALIS RANCH has many pastures in Australia: Southwest Victoria, South Australia, Gippsland, Northern Territory, Tasmania, New South Wales-Sydney, etc., providing dairy cows with high-quality nutritious meals and comfort. The living environment is designed to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere, our cows are supervised by keepers and women trained in animal welfare and monitored by qualified veterinarians.
As a global leader in dairy processing, we have a huge responsibility and we believe that high-quality dairy products are derived from high-quality milk from healthy and well-cared-for animals, providing safe shelter and using only on-site horses. and people to move the cows.On our vast pristine pastures, cattle roam freely in their natural environment, feeding on native grasses and interacting with their surroundings.
Ensure our ranches eliminate or modify daily management practices that are unnecessary or causing suffering. These include the elimination of tail docking, pain control used when cattle are dehorned or toothed, additional teat removal and castration, and a ban on the use of electric cattle pens for routine handling. We also require suppliers to implement appropriate animal care awareness and training programs, including a mandatory Animal Care Code of Practice that is reviewed annually.
Our global Animal Welfare Committee oversees compliance of our standards, with members representing each country where we operate. It is comprised of LACTALIS internal senior leaders from our Governmental Affairs, Milk Procurement, Corporate Communications, and Sales teams. This Committee enables us to stay at the forefront of animal welfare best practices, and customers and works with animal welfare experts from different universities and veterinary colleges.
